Plans
Is the free plan really free, or is it a trial?
It is free, with no time limit and no cap on animals or litters. It is meant for a household with a few animals or a first litter. The paid plans add cloud sync and backup, the document scanner with an included allowance, the buyer and money tools, and on Signature a change history and an API.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Nothing is deleted. Your records stay on your device, readable and exportable. The paid features switch off, and if you come back later they switch on again.
How do I cancel?
From Settings in the app (Manage Billing Portal), or by emailing support@kennelkeeper.app. Cancelling stops future renewals, and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Can I get a refund?
If you are within 14 days of your first paid charge and unsatisfied, contact us for a full refund of that charge. Renewal charges are generally non-refundable, but reach out if something went wrong and we will work with you in good faith.
Can my co-breeder or my vet log in too?
Not yet. Shared team access is planned but not built, so it is not for sale. Today each plan is for one person, and Breeder and Signature let that person open their own records on any number of devices.
Your records
Where are my records actually stored?
On your own device: in your browser's database for the Web Edition, or inside the Windows app. On the Breeder and Signature plans a copy also syncs to the cloud so your other devices can see it, and that copy doubles as your backup. On any plan you can export everything to CSV or JSON whenever you like.
Is sync encrypted?
Sync runs on Google's Firebase. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest on Google's servers. It is not end-to-end encrypted, which means it is not sealed against the service itself, and we would rather say that plainly than let the word encrypted imply otherwise.
Is my data used to train AI?
No. KennelKeeper never uses your records to train anything and never sells data. The AI features send only the document or text you asked about, only when you ask, to the provider you have chosen. If you would rather not use them at all, you never have to.
Devices
Does it run on a Mac, a phone or a tablet?
In a browser, yes: Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox on any of them, and you can add it to a phone's home screen so it opens like an app. The installable desktop app is Windows only for now. We will not list another platform here until that build actually ships.
Getting started
Can I bring in the records I already have?
Yes. Import a spreadsheet as CSV and map the columns, or photograph a registration certificate or a vaccination record and let the scanner read it. If you are coming from another program with an unusual export, use the contact form and we will look at the file together.
Windows
Why does Windows warn me when I install the desktop app?
New independent software has not built up a download reputation with Microsoft yet, so SmartScreen shows a blue warning the first time. It is not a virus detection. Click More info, then Run anyway. The details are on the download page.
