Pedigrees and COI
A pedigree for every animal, and its coefficient of inbreeding.
Link each animal to its sire and dam and KennelKeeper draws the pedigree and works out Wright's coefficient of inbreeding from it. A common ancestor is marked everywhere it appears, on both sides.
What it does
Four levels at a glance
The animal, its parents, grandparents and great-grandparents, with a count of how many of the fourteen ancestors you have on record, generation by generation.
Wright's coefficient, from your records
Worked out over the generations shown, from the parents you have linked, and shown in red above 10%. A name you typed but have not made into a record is left out, so two unrelated animals that share a name are never counted as one.
Missing parents in one click
A sire or dam you have named but not added shows as a blue card. One click makes the record, splits off the titles and links it to the offspring.
Figures from elsewhere, beside it
Record a coefficient from a breed club database or a DNA panel, pedigree or genomic, with its source and how many generations it covers, next to the one the app works out.
Test matings
Choose a sire and a dam in the Breeding Simulator and see the coefficient their offspring would have, counted five generations behind the pairing.

Questions about pedigrees and COI.
Will the coefficient match a DNA test?
Usually not. A pedigree coefficient assumes the first animals in the pedigree are unrelated, so it reads lower than a genomic figure from a DNA panel. You can record the DNA figure beside it.
How far back does it count?
The chart and its coefficient cover the animal's parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Breeding Simulator counts five generations behind the pairing.
Do I have to type every ancestor in?
No. A spreadsheet with sire and dam columns brings the parents in with it, K9-Data.org pedigrees import directly, and on Breeder, or with your own AI key, the scanner reads a pedigree certificate.
